The howler monkeys can be found in South and Central American forest and are among the largest of the New World monkeys with an average size of 40–70 cm, excluding their tail which can be equally as long. They live up to 15 or 20 years and live in groups of six to fifteen animals, with one to three adult males and multiple females. As their name indicates, they are famous for their howls which can several kilometers through dense rainforest.
They use it as social interaction but also to protect their territory from other howlermonkeys.
