This guided walking tour lasts approximately four hours and takes place within the Gandoca–Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Created in 1985, the refuge was established to protect one of Costa Rica’s most biologically diverse coastal ecosystems, preserving endangered flora and fauna from both marine and terrestrial environments.
During the walk, you will explore inner jungle trails and coastal paths, passing through tropical rainforest, beaches, bluffs, and hidden scenic overlooks. The refuge is home to a wide variety of species, including monkeys, sloths, reptiles, amphibians, and an impressive diversity of birdlife. An early start offers the best opportunity for exceptional birdwatching and a deeper appreciation of this quiet, pristine natural area.
